Pipilotti Rist: Big Heartedness, Be My Neighbor is the first West Coast survey by internationally renowned Swiss media artist. Rist’s installations explore the relationship between video and the body. External environments and internal psychological landscapes. Reason and instinct. They exuberantly probe the capacity of video media for vivid color. Panoramic views and extreme close-ups. Introspection and cultural criticism. And, above all, the creation of shared experiences within the museum’s public space.

Thirty years of work.

The exhibition reviews over thirty years of the Zurich-based artist’s work. Encompassing the first single-channel videos. Large-scale installations bursting with color and hypnotic musical scores. Sculptures that merge everyday objects, video and decorative forms. Pipilotti Rist: Big Heartedness, Be My Neighbor is also launching a new audio-video installation specially designed for The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.
